LGBT Week at State School!
During LGBT week students will be participating in numerous activities and informational events that teach students about gender identity and the LGBT community.
Monday: Each teacher will discuss the topics of gender identity, gay, and transgender society in one period of their teaching day. Explain what it is and how people go about their lives when they fall under one of those categories.
Tuesday: Each classroom will have a different celebrity that is either gay, transgender, or have dealt with gender identity in their life. Each class will make a presentation about the celebrity and present it to the teacher.
Wednesday: Students will dress in colorful clothes (rainbow colors, no blacks, browns greys etc). Students will also all head down to the gym for the last two periods of the day to listen to a LGBT speaker and their experience of growing up.
Thursday: Students will be making posters in support of LGBT and their community. They will make positive posters to put up around the school to show that they support anyone who is part of that community.
Friday: Students will be able to dress in all white and participate in the walk/run to raise money for LGBT communities and the Free2Be charity. There will be lots of colorful chalk and activities for students to participate in. During the walk/run students will be able to get colored chalk dust thrown at them to color their white clothes rainbow!
